The Hollywood TenOne

Over at Pajamas Media, John “Dirty Harry” Nolte is like a kid on Christmas Eve, trembling and giddy in anticipation of David Zucker arriving to lay waste all of Hollywood with jokes about Michael Moore’s unhealthful BMI.
In just this past year, counting both narratives and documentaries, we’ve seen nearly a dozen, high profile anti-Iraq War films and not a single one has made a profit or argued the other side.
Any decent anti-war movie is going to give equal time to promoting the pro-war side, because drama is conflict. (Note:  Equal Time provisions do not apply to AM Talk Radio.)  Besides, if Americans really hated the Iraq War, they’d eschew escapist fare like Iron Man and The Dark Knight, and spend their summer entertainment dollars watching movies that remind them how hateful the war they hate is.  And 7-Eleven would have offered its Rendition Big Gulp in the 64 and not just the 32 ounce size.
Unless it’s to inspire their annual cinematic treatise to all things them — the annual film decrying the 1950s blacklist which forced a few screenwriters to use a pseudonym –
Bunch’a babies.  John uses a pseudonyn when he blogs, and you don’t hear him whining about it.  Anyway, I’m probably not qualified to comment, since I missed this year’s big studio film decrying the blacklist.  And last year’s, too.  In fact, the most recent movie I can remember that even used the blacklist as a plot point was 2001′s The Majestic, but it’s entirely possible that the anti-Blacklist propaganda inThe Hottie and the Nottie flew right over my head.
— present-day liberal Hollywood doesn’t much care for the word “blacklist,” especially when it’s them being accused of doing the blacklisting.  Their defense is to hide behind the literal and claim there is no actual blacklist or organizedconspiracy to keep openly conservative filmmakers from getting work.
They hide their reluctance to produce Dirty’s movies behind feeble, transparent euphemisms like “trite melodrama,” “steaming, witless ejecta,” and “Good grief, how is it possible for any single person to suck this much without the assistance of a Shop-Vac?!”
Fine.
Okay, then.  Dirty goes on the recount how Hollywood leftists conspired to stop Mel Gibson’s (pre-Sugar Tits, and ante-anti-Semitic tirade) masterpiece, The Passion of the Christ.
…the goal was therefore two-fold: to hurt the movie financially (which obviously failed), but also to launch a pre-emptive strike against any filmmaker thinking about following Gibson’s lead and scampering off the liberal Hollywood plantation.
I thought that problem was settled by the Supreme Court in Dredd Scott v. Columbia/Screen Gems Home Entertainment.
The Passion may be the only film to make over a half-billion dollars and not create a me-too phenomenon.
Not one other major star belonging to a splinter Catholic cult run by his father, the Pope of Malibu, opted to spend millions of dollars of his own money to make an Aramaic language fetish video about beating up Jesus.  If that’s not a blacklist I don’t know what is.
A more tolerant industry, or at least one driven by financial considerations, would’ve quickly greenlit a serious-minded sequel based on the Acts of the Apostles.
If only Hollywood was more focused on the bottom line, we could be in a movie theater right now, enjoying Sister Acts of the Apostles II:  The Cock Crows At Midnight.
Reasonable people would call this a form of “blacklisting,” but liberal Hollywood isn’t reasonable and rather than have an honest discussion on the matter they instead wrap us ’round the axle of specificity when it comes to the word “blacklist. ”
They also insist on inflating the Tires of Proper Definition.
So let’s use another word: Passioning.
Well, the metaphors weren’t working out, so I guess we might as well try neologisms.  But let’s start by defining our crappy, made-up terms:
“Passioning” is what happens when the leftist Hollywood establishment, using whatever power available, demean, dismiss, diminish, and defame those they consider an ideological apostate. In 2004 it was Mel Gibson and The Passion of the Christ; today it’s director David Zucker andAn American Carol.
According to Dirty, various bloggers have reacted with muted enthusiasm to The Passion of the Zucker, implying that a film in which Michael Moore “finds political clarity at the smoking ruins of the World Trade Center while the admonishing ghost of George Washington (played by Jon Voight) hovers nearby” may not provide the sort of rollicking, laugh-a-minute thrill ride that readers of internet spoiler sites legitimately expect.
Thus, like Red Channels, the Army-McCarthy Hearings, and the House Un-American Activities Committee, the iron heel of CHUD.com and Ain’t It Cool News grinds another artist into the dust for the crime of standing up and declaring, “I am not a number!  I am a free man!… By the way, how’re the weekend numbers?”

Yeah, a conservative “message movie” from one-third of the “Airplane” team is exactly what we want to see.
Actually, I’m morbidly curious to find out how bad it is. If the trailer’s any indication…
Well, I hope the ghost of Stephen Stucker shows and starts slapping David Zucker around.
The Passion may be the only film to make over a half-billion dollars and not create a me-too phenomenon.
Yeah, Hollywood has always shunned biblical films like the plague, haven’t they?
Of course by “biblical” I really mean period melodramas filled with breasts, sweaty beefcake and tons of violence. What I can’t figure out is why cretins like Nolte want the Hollywood exploitation machine within a light year of Jesus. Have televangelists not crapped on Him enough for him?
The Passion may be the only film to make over a half-billion dollars and not create a me-too phenomenon.
yeah, I can see it now. Jeebus II: 8 Days Later, The Legend of Doubting Thomas.
The Passion may be the only film to make over a half-billion dollars and not create a me-too phenomenon.
It’s worse than he says! Why wasn’t there ever a sequel to Titanic, huh, liberal “Hollyweird”? Why haven’t we been able to enjoy “Independence Day II: Guy Fawkes Day,” or “The Seventh Sense,” or “301″? Passioned, all.
Someone should tell Thick Nolte that the Book of Acts doesn’t have a third act.
Of course, I’d bet dollars to the donuts that Nolte makes at his full-time job that he hasn’t even read Acts.
You’re being generous, Roger. He probably hasn’t read “The Cat In the Hat” either.
if Americans really hated the Iraq War, they’d eschew escapist fare like Iron Man
Wait. Was this sarcastic, scott? I thought the whole point behind Iron Man was that Stark sees what he hath wrought and destroys his most terrible weapon ever so it can’t be used against the nameless South Asian country (whose initials are Iraq)?
Apart from that, the louder conservatives whine about something, the more you can bet that it is precisely what is going on and that these whines are pre-emptive strikes against dissent from the meme.
Take the “liberal media” trope. It has about as much validity as a lobster running a talent agency (Esther Newberg notwithstanding), but if you hammer it home enough times, even we liberals take it as common wisdom, even if we take it that way in the breach.
Now, there have been plenty of successful antiwar movies since our invasion of Iraq. “Syriana” leaps to mind, as does “Valley of Elah” which garnered Tommy Lee Jones an Oscar nomination.
I’m still waiting for a pro war movie to even be made, and don’t tell me, Thick Nolte (nice one, Roger!), that they can’t get made, because guess what?
Someone makes all those soppy America-glorifying movies that the entire world never watches because they are too jingoistic, like, say, ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, “Rambo IV: Losing My Overbite”
Of course by “biblical” I really mean period melodramas filled with breasts, sweaty beefcake and tons of violence.
I’ve known some of those breasts.
I mean that in the Biblical sense.
present-day liberal Hollywood doesn’t much care for the word “blacklist,” especially when it’s them being accused of doing the blacklisting.
Indeed. We prefer the term “africanamericanlisting”…
Scott,
This is like the third wingnut piece I’ve read this week with regards to this obviously hideous Zucker film.
Do you get the sense there’s a whole “please don’t hurt us” meme rising here? As if, to immunize the movie from criticism, they’re lashing out in a sort of “Llap Goch” fashion?
WHAT is LLAP-GOCH again?
It is an ANCIENT Welsh ART based on a BRILLIANTLY simple I-D-E-A, which is a SECRET. The best form of DEFENCE is ATTACK (Clausewitz) and the most VITAL element of ATTACK is SURPRISE (Oscar HAMMERstein). Therefore, the BEST way to protect yourself AGAINST any ASSAILANT is to ATTACK him before he attacks YOU… Or BETTER… BEFORE the THOUGHT of doing so has EVEN OCCURRED TO HIM!!! SO YOU MAY BE ABLE TO RENDER YOUR ASSAILANT UNCONSCIOUS BEFORE he is EVEN aware of your very existence!
George W. Bush. President of the United States of America. Master of Llap Goch.
I’m not sure, Carl, but I think it’s a combination of good old fashioned flackery (the kind of over-the-top, “see this to give our enemies the finger”-type promotion that blanketed CBN and the Trinity network just prior to the release of The Omega Code), and the natural, once bitten, twice shy skittishness of people who previously went on record insisting that The Half Hour Comedy Hour was funny.
The Passion may be the only film to make over a half-billion dollars and not create a me-too phenomenon
But it did–a couple of Christmases back we had a movie about the Virgin Mary’s story (forgot the title). Or doesn’t Mary count any more?
Damn, I was reading my dog-eared copy of “The Brand New Monty Python Paperbok” not too long ago, including Llap Goch. A classic.
Scott, I see we’re in agreement about Bush, except I thought he was a miserable failure even at that.
…we’ve seen nearly a dozen, high profile anti-Iraq War films and not a single one has made a profit
Right, because profitability equates to quality. We all know how profit machines like Walmart and McDonald’s are known for the high quality of their products.
If only Hollywood was more focused on the bottom line, we could be in a movie theater right now, enjoying Sister Acts of the Apostles II: The Cock Crows At Midnight.
I’m still waiting for the 2-in-1 sequel, “Snakes on a Soul Plane.” Coming soon to an inner city near you!

Magic Johnson Theaters, Inc.
I for one am waiting for “Shakes on a Plane” (the sequel to Shakes the Clown).
– Alternatively, a documentary about Air Force One.
A sequel to the movie where Christ was tortured and killed?!? Good grief, where could you possibly go from there?
A gigantic cruise ship slowly crashing into a dock, perhaps?
Well gosh, it’s not like there aren’t a zillion Catholic martyrs who were killed in gory, disgusting, torturous ways. If Mel Gibson hadn’t blown his credibility and bankability, what with the crappy movie about natives and the anti-Semitic tirade after his drunken driving arrest, he could have headed the most endless, lucrative film franchise ever.
Honestly, conservatives of all stripes, people are sick of listenting to your obviously well-fed, expensively-dressed, fully-employed, ridiculously lionized selves moaning about how nobody listens to you. For a while now we’ve let you whine on just to be nice, but now you’re basically dancing on America’s last nerve. Quit while you’re behind.
I forgot to add that while reading the linked article, I got a good laugh out of the writer’s insistence that a film based on A Christmas Carol is “thoroughly original.” They just don’t seem to understand what words mean sometimes.
I for one am waiting for “Shakes on a Plane” (the sequel to Shakes the Clown).

Bush’s campaign slogan should have read “Hand Jobs For All”.

Dr. Mike, Professional Ass...ociate Professor

Let’s skip the preliminaries, and jump right into Dr. Mike’s latest, “Fat Lesbians on Crack.”
So this lesbian goes walking into a counselor’s office to get help with her same-sexed relationship. Actually, it sounds like the start of a really bad joke but it isn’t. The counselor’s name is Marcia Walden. In addition to being a counselor she is a devout Christian who believes it is immoral to engage in same-sex relationships. So she faced a tough decision when Jane, her prospective client, sought help resolving problems in her lesbian relationship.
Rather than misleading her, Marcia decided to tell Jane about her religious conflict, indicating that it would be unfair for her (Jane) if she were to serve as her counselor. But she remained helpful and offered to refer Jane to another counselor named Ken Cook.
Here’s a shorter version of what happened next (per Dr. Mike): later, Jane complained to Marcia’s supervisor about Marcia’s refusal to help her.  Marica’s supervisors advised Marcia that the next time this happened she should just tell the client that she (Marcia) wasn’t qualified to counsel her rather than saying that she thought that same-sex relationships were immoral.  Marcia refused, because as a Christian she couldn’t lie.  She also couldn’t, in good conscience, counsel homosexuals.  (Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!)   Eventually, Marcia was fired.  So, now Marcia is being represented by the Alliance Defense Fund, which is suing her former employer.
Now, back to Dr. Mike for the outrage.
What this case – taken by the Alliance Defense Fund – all boils down to is the unreasonable accommodation of gay activists who simply cannot tolerate the existence of anyone, anywhere who does not accept the gay lifestyle. And to the extent that we accommodate them, we are helping to create a very “uncivil” rights movement. And it is a trend with dangerous implications.
Imagine for a moment that we were to forbid a counselor from expressing her objection to overeating, despite proven health risks, simply because the obese individual likes to eat and claims some genetic predisposition to obesity.
Or imagine for a moment that we were to forbid a counselor from expressing her objection to over-drinking, despite proven health risks, simply because the drunken individual likes to drink and claims some genetic predisposition to alcoholism. (Or, worse, imagine she likes crack!).
But you don’t have to imagine forbidding a counselor from expressing her objection to homosexuality, despite proven health risks, simply because the gay individual likes homosexuality and claims some genetic predisposition to gayness.
That’s where we have arrived because, in America, there is no idea that is too dumb to be taken seriously.
Nice try, Dr. Mike, but Jane didn’t go to her college counseling office for a physical and some Christian advice about the health risks of same-sex relationships, she went for relationship counseling.  And Marcia refused to help her because Marcia believes that Jane is a sinner — and Marcia told Jane as much.
So, Dr. Mike, imagine for a minute that you go to your doctor for a physical, and your doctor refuses to treat you because, based on his Christian faith, he thinks that all conservatives are going to hell.  You’d be fine with that, wouldn’t you?  You’d say that he should have the right to follow the dictates of his conscience, and his employer should make reasonable accommodations for his religious beliefs, right?
(Note to readers: this is what we call a facetious question, because Dr. Mike is the guy who writes 5-part columns overflowing with apoplectic rage when somebody fails to include the honorific in front of his name or when a cafeteria worker forgets to give him the tater tots that were supposed to come with his Beanie Wienie lunch special.  And if there are ever any reactions to his obnoxious behavior, he claims he’s being persecuted because of his conservative beliefs .  So, there’s no way he would handle the above scenario with anything approaching sanity, let alone graciousness. )
Here’s another one for you, Dr. Mike: imagine for a moment that you go out to get your latest copy of Guns & Manhood, and it isn’t in your mailbox.  You call the post office and complain, and then learn that your letter carrier refuses to deliver your mail because he objects to your pro-gun, anti-life behavior.  However, your carrier says he asked his colleague to deliver your mail (when he gets a chance), so you should be getting your gun mags eventually.  Therefore, you have nothing to complain about, and your letter carrier and his mailbag (and soul) will remain clear of the stain that serving you would entail.  That would be okay with you, wouldn’t it?
One last hypothetical. Imagine that you are walking down the street, looking for a $20 hooker minding your own business, when you are assaulted by a big, burly man who says he finds you morally repugnant (yes, hard to believe I know, but in America there is no idea that is too dumb to be taken seriously).  You left your Glock in your other suit, so you call for help.  Fortunately for you, a police officer hears your cries and arrives within a couple of minutes.  Unfortunately for you, he refuses to help you because, as a committed Christian who has read your columns, he believes that you are a horrible person and that you are receiving God’s just punishment for your many, many bad acts.  He does, however, try to aid you within the framework of his belief system by reading you some Bible verses about “the wages of sin.”
Meanwhile, the big guy is still pounding you into the pavement.  You are understandably upset, and tell the policeman that as a public servant who is paid by taxpayers like you, he has no right to refuse to help people based solely on his personal religious beliefs.  He says that the police force used to think that, but after getting sued by the Alliance Defense Force, they changed their policy, and now Dr. Mike will just have to wait for a police officer whose moral code permits him to help douche bags.  It’s a long wait.
Okay, enough with the imagining.  Bottom line: one does have to have have trust and respect for one’s counseler for the process to be effective, and so Marcia probably wasn’t the right therapist for Jane.  But Marcia can’t refuse to treat a segment of the students she is there to serve just because she thinks they are immoral — and she should dang well expect to be fired if she tells students that she can’t counsel people like them because she is a good Christian and they are abominations to God (which may or may not be what Marcia said to Jane – it’s some times hard to get the truth from Dr. Mike’s stories).
But hey, let’s let get back to Dr. Mike for the stirring conclusion to this piece.
I’m not claiming that the gay rights movement has taken over the country. But, clearly, when it comes to gays, the patients are the ones who are running the therapists. And, before long, the inmates really will be running the asylum.
But then apes will evolve from men, and nobody will really care anymore.

‘Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy

Over at RenewAmerica, Reed R. Heustis warns us that when the American Heritage Party comes to power, in thunder and in earthquake like a Jove, then we’ll all be sorry that we made fun of his Pharaoh.
reed1.jpg
KISSING THE SON IN THE CIVIL ARENA
Liberty works!
However, the moment Christians organize themselves politically in the civil arena, somehow that same liberty ceases to exist.
When Christians create political organizations, such as a Christian political party like the American Heritage Party, look out, duck for cover! They will be demonized as extremists, bigots, and intolerant tyrants, just to name a few of the nicer epithets.
Well, that does seem unfair.  As Reed, both an attorney and a practicing Baptist, could no doubt testify, not every Christian who enters politics does so with the intention of imposing some sort of Taliban-like theocracy.
The top priority for any civil magistrate is to acknowledge the Kingship of Jesus Christ in the political arena and to serve Him.
Hm.  Apparently the only thing required to pass the California Bar Exam is the demonstrated ability to color inside the lines.  But what happens if a judge has a full docket, and doesn’t budget the time each day to acknowledge the Kingship of Jesus Christ in the political arena?
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled.
He took you to the movies, he paid for dinner…KISS HIM!
To kiss the Son means to pay homage to the Lord Jesus Christ, who rules in all affairs of men, including civic affairs.
In fact, he ruled in our favor when we took the Condo Board to Small Claims Court over their failure to obtain three competitive bids for resealing the driveway.
Not surprisingly, non-Christian civil magistrates refuse to pay homage to the Son, while Secular Humanists vociferously defend this “right” to refuse to do so.
Look Wapner, if I’ve gotta kiss the guy, you’ve gotta kiss him.  There’s no homage-paying exception for uppity old dudes in black satin muumuus.
To make matters worse, Secular Humanists take the further step of forbidding Christian civil magistrates to pay the same homage! In the minds of Secular Humanists, any civil magistrate who publicly acknowledges the Kingship of Jesus Christ necessarily mixes religion with politics, and this is somehow verboten.
Think of the Constitution, not as a blueprint for self-government, but as a recipe.  Understood in this way, you realize that “the separation of Church and State” is merely what happens when you forget to stir.
The reason why a Christian civil magistrate mixes religion with politics is precisely because it is impossible to separate religion from politics.
“That is why, it is with the deepest humility, and an even deeper faith in the greatness of the American people, that I accept my party’s nomination for the office of Pontiff!”
It is not a question as to whether religion should be mixed with politics, but rather which religion?
I can’t believe that in this day and age we’re even asking this question!  If only the Founders hadn’t been so squeamish about Europe’s long history of religious wars and state-sanctioned persecution, we would’ve settled this by now.
Whose God reigns?
I smell a Pay Per View cage match…!
No political position can be based upon non-religion.
Claims that alternate side of the street parking regulations are revenue neutral were instrumental in defeating the Arians at the Council of Nicaea.
An atheist, much to his chagrin, is no less religious because he makes himself to be his own god.
“Hey honey?  Have you seen my mystical Uru hammer?  I’ve got to smite some heretics.  And did Greg, Lord of the Hoary Underworld ever return my Garden Weasel?”
“Every nation has to make one of two choices: kiss the Son or serve the serpent. The whole of history is an account of which nations kissed the Son and which nations served the snake — and what happened as a result.” (emphasis added)
Thanks for adding the emphasis; for a second there I couldn’t make up my mind which part was the craziest.
If Christians are “allowed” to have their own Christian hospitals, Christian schools, and Christian missions, then why not their own Christian civic organizations?
Why not their own Christian police?  I hear the Saudis have something similar, and it’s working out very nicely for everyone.  Or what about Christian Fire Departments, Christian Department of Motor Vehicles, or a Christian Bureau of Labor Statistics?  The motto, etched in stone above the entrance, practically writes itself:  “The laborer is worthy of his wages (Timothy 5:18) Unless you can get it cheaper by hiring illegals, in which case, Suffer the Day Laborers from the Home Depot parking lot to come unto me.”

Hugh Hewitt In: Boners Of Foreign Wars

The Iraq war has fallen off the front pages lately, but by studying recent statements from the McCain campaign, we can determine the following:
  • The Surge has worked!
  • The Surge is working!
  • The Surge will work, even though the Surge is over.
This may at first seem confusing, until you realize that the key to McCain’s war strategy is verb tense.  Because even though the Surge has worked, is working, and will work, we can still lose the war, even though we’ve won it, we’re winning it, and we will, at some future point, win it.  At this point, counter-insurgency doctrine calls for introducing fewer cluster bombs into the battlespace, and more School House Rock videos.
But with Operation Iraqi Freedom advancing smoothly from the pluperfect subjunctive to the past perfect progressive, .i.e, we would have won the war if we had not already been winning it, it’s time to turn our sights upon fresh targets.  Like that formerly titillating skin mag that now lies forgotten at the back of the closet, its pages dogeared and adhesive, the Iraq war no longer exerts the same hydraulic effect on the manly nether regions.  The once glamorous neo-con courtesan is now a frowsy pavement princess haunting the alleyways behind Townhall.com, selling her tarnished favors for the price of a glass of absinthe.  Fortunately, there’s a New Girl in Town, and Hugh Hewitt’s got her!
First, did you see McCain’s strong and principled response to Russia’s rape of Georgia?
It’s the breathless, gossipy tone that lets you know you’re in for a serious discussion of geo-strategic issues.  Followed by a screening ofPorky’s.
It was a great political moment because it was first and foremost a great American moment wherein a leader stood up for the victims of totalitarian aggression.
In this case, the victim was a bit like a guy who, noticing a hungry bear pawing through his garbage, steps out and heaves a rock at it, then turns to run back inside, only to discover the door’s locked and he forgot his keys. Still, a great American moment.
If you were still having trouble getting motivated about the fall campaign, the crisis in Georgia should remind you of the stakes…
I think we all know what “having trouble getting motivated” means in this case, so ask your doctor if the Rape of Georgia is right for you.
You still aren’t over your disappointment that Fred or Mitt or Mike isn’t the nominee?
Yeah, thanks Hugh, but as tough as it was, it turns out my heart will go on.
Have you read through the Obama response to the Corsi book? It was intended to bury Corsi but it in fact resurrected all of the doubts about Obama’s background and shady pals. Skip the Corsi book…
Why go through a middle man when you can get your White Supremacy direct from Stormfront?
…and order David Freddoso’s The Case Against Barack Obama for all the reasons you’ll ever need to work hard against the Dalibama.
Wow, first a recommendation from NewsMax, and now Huge Hewitt?  Frodo really is The One!
Still not off the bench? Do you want energy for the country’s future? McCain’s not there yet on ANWR, but after the Russian lurch towards Georgia’s pipeline, the national security case for exploring ANWR got stronger.
Yes, if we can just hold the Russians off for ten years, then we’ll have a good six months of thumbing our energy independent noses at the Kremlin, providing the companies who drill in ANWR don’t turn around and sell the crude on the world market.  Whoo hoo!  (As we speak, I’m picking out the pants I’m going to wear when we all turn and moon Moscow in 2018; something baggy with an elastic waistband usually works best…)
Perhaps McCain will save an ANWR announcement for his acceptance speech, but even if he doesn’t, McCain is solidly behind both coastal exploration and rapid development of the scores of new nuke plants that we need.
Under a McCain presidency, nuclear power plants will be like Starbucks — plentiful, conveniently located, and staffed by high school dropouts working for minimum wage and tips.
Personally, I hope he names Romney as veep while announcing that he’s putting Romney in charge of a team that will include the Secretaries of Energy and Commerce and charge them with revitalizing the country’s energy and automobile sectors.
I don’t know why, exactly, but this sentence reminds me an awful lot of the speech Rita Moreno’s prostitute delivers to Jack Nicholson’s flaccid penis at the end of Carnal Knowledge.
If he does that and sends Romney off to ANWR in early September on a fact-finding trip and then on a week of intense talks in Detroit with the struggling captains of the car business, the already-stable McCain campaign will start to surge. The energy that the Romney organization would bring in places like Nevada and Colorado would be enormous, and the contrast of McCain-Romney to Obama-Anyone would be immense. We could actually win this thing.
LOUISE:  That’s why they try to cut you down, because your knowledge of yourself and them is so right, so true, that it exposes the lies by which they, every scheming one of them, live by. It takes a true woman to understand that the purest form of love is of a man who denies himself to her, of a man who inspires worship, because he has no need for any woman. Because he has himself, and who is better, more beautiful, more powerful, more perfect… you’re getting hard… more strong, more masculine, more extraordinary, more… bust. It’s rising, it’s rising… more virile, domineering. More irresistible. It’s up, it’s in the air…
Okay, that’s it for me.  I need a cigarette.

Today’s “Pot. Kettle” Moment …

. . .comes from Bill O’Reilly’s latest column, Rockin’ in the Free World.
It seems that Bill, who recently attended an Earth, Wind, and Fire concert, was amazed to find that the lead singer (a) was still alive; (b) didn’t use any more crack or slap around any more ‘hos than a white singer; or (c) didn’t badmouth America.
While “a” and “b” may be true, the correct answer is “c,” because Bill’s sputterings for this week center on the idea that although Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, and Chris Martin have the constitutional right to voice their opinion (and so those who say the rockers should ”just shut up and sing” should just shut their pieholes and stay off of Bill’s turf), actually the singers should just say what Bill wants them to say and then refrain from singing.
Anyway, here’s our “Pot, Kettle” moment for today:
What annoys me about Springsteen, Young and Martin, in particular, is that they never debate the issues. They never show us exactly how deep their political thinking is; how wide their frame of reference is. Instead, they yell out dumb stuff to their zombie followers and revel in the applause.
BTW, Bill has come up with 16 reasons why you should pay money to Join His Zombie Followers.  I especially like reason #4:
4.  One show a night not enough for you? Get more Bill in your life with access to exclusive video clips of his travels, television appearances, and special events.  Have access to Bill’s world at your fingertips 24-7!
I can’t think of anything more disturbing.
UPDATE:  Remember when we told you that the Russia/Georgia war was was all Barack’s fault?  Well, it turns out we were wrong: the real reason for the conflict is that Vladimir Putin is a vampire.  It’s all explained in Bill’s Column.
[...]
Now we have Vladimir Putin, the Russian martinet, who is orchestrating the violence in Georgia in order to show the world that the Russian military is back in fighting form.
[...]
But why is Putin doing this? Well, like Dracula, it is in his blood.
[...]
Putin is one tough customer. It will be interesting to see if the United States will elect a leader who can effectively neutralize him. Because if that does not happen, old Vlad, like Dracula, will commit scourge on the countryside.
So, kids, who are YOU going to vote for: wimpy Barack “I support gay vampire marriage” Obama, or tough, old John Van Helsing McCain?  Vote wrong and you’ll get bad actors comitting scourge all over your countryside.

George W. Bush, Poloroid Swinger

Yesterday Sheri mentioned that NewsMax was giving away “The Case Against Barack Obama,” by Frodo Bagginses, presumably because turning trees into pulp, and then into wingnutty books, and then back into pulp as quickly as we can is mankind’s only hope of prevailing in our war against the Ents.
amthink1.jpg
Well, our friend Kyle-Anne Shiver over at American Thinker (motto:  “America is like a toilet stall — it’s a good place to sit and think.  It’s also a good place for a Stick-Up™”) wants a piece of the action too.  She quotes from Frodo’s “Obama Timeline” which is sort of like the Obama Body Count, but emphasizes his abuse of power as a state senator, while downplaying his frequent killing sprees, and includes such incriminating items as:
March 19, 1996 – Obama wins Democratic state Senate primary, unopposed.
February, 1997 – Obama co-sponsors a bill that creates affordable local housing funds in order to subsidize private developers.
August 23, 2001 – Bill co-sponsored by Obama, giving special tax credits to donors to private developers of “affordable housing.”
and my favorite: May 21, 2003 – Obama votes for the Affordable Housing Planning and Appeal Act, creating demand for at least 7,000 new “affordable housing” units and letting private developers circumvent local ordinances.
You see, by creating “supply,” Obama also created “demand,” which is pretty presumptuous, because all those people living in appliance boxes and tents made from duct tape and discarded rain ponchos were perfectly content until Obama shouted “Yea” in a crowded state house and stampeded them.  But does he care about the death and destruction he’s left in the wake of his vote for a piece of legislation?
The poor citizens of Illinois are left paying the consequences of Obama’s power.  He’s off in Hawaii resting up for his Denver coronation.
In an effort to determine just how far this pretender is willing to go, Kyle-Anne hit the streets and rousted her usual stoolies:  Rooster.  Huggy Bear.  The Communist Party USA, which snitches that a “broad multiclass, multiracial movement is converging around Obama’s ‘Hope, change and unity’ campaign…”
It’s certainly no secret that America has a number of citizens who would prefer rule by a dictatorship of the new-and-improved rainbow proletariat, but that number has traditionally been a small fringe.  Obama seems to believe, however, that he will win the rest of us over.
Kyle-Anne’s not one to be fooled by a flim-flamming mulatto who sprays the proletariate with decorator colors and tries to pass them off as Skittles.  And I’ll be frank here, I too prefer a more bespoke dictatorship; the most I’ll tolerate is a herringbone tweed, or perhaps a small houndstooth check proletariate.
Since 2000, this nation’s citizenry has been bombarded in systematic fashion with polarizing tactics aimed at one person:  President George W. Bush.  And collaterally, at his party.  At the “religious right.”  At “hard-hearted” conservatives.  At anything and everything whatsoever traditional-American.
So pretty much everybody then.  Well I guess that’s what happens when you send your whole military overseas; the citizenry has to systematically bombard themselves.
Since polarizing the President went national, with the nearly complete assistance of the mainstream media, it broke through, rather quickly, to its counter-side and produced a sizeable backlash among large swaths of the American electorate.
Which is why today, George W. Bush is more popular than Jesus!
Polarizing the President and his Christian faith quickly produced a determined opposition among those voters, which are a clear majority of our citizenry.
More than a majority, they constitute a clear 100% of 23% of the citizenry.  Statistics don’t lie!
The myriad sufferers of “Bush Derangement Syndrome” have been forced to contend with American common sense within a number of constituencies.
For instance, the Professional Association of Glaziers, Window-Tinters, and Presidential Polarizers.
Obama’s attempt to keep his campaign on the polarizing shtick, by constantly attempting to tie John McCain to George W. Bush, does not seem to be working with voters.
Because they love George W. Bush!
If it were working as planned, then Obama would be leading in polls by double digits
Because people hate George W…wait a second…
If he had stayed in the predominantly local business of “organizing black folks” for long enough to develop real skill at actually solving problems, seeing firsthand what ideas worked to produce good results, then he might be able to run for President after, say 30 years, on the proving grounds of politics.

Picking a single bale of cotton does not qualify one to put on a tailcoat and work in the Mansion, son.

Jonah Has Been Outsourced to Renew America

Jonah’s analysis of the Georgian situation, brilliant as it might have been (in another reality), failed to delve into root causes.  So, for that, we must go to Renew America’s crack geo-political analyst, Time/Warner Todd Huston.
See how it’s done, Jonah?
Anyway, Time/Warner uses most of his column to show off his knowledge of Russian airport history, so let’s just skip to the part where he presents his perfect-storm-of-wingnuttery thesis.
But, the question remains, why did Saakashvili decide to attempt to pacify the separatists in South Ossetia now? The only answer can be that he is trying to solve his problem now while Bush is still in office so that if things escalate too badly he can appeal to American intervention. Saakashvili understands well that if he makes this move after Obama takes the White House, the Georgians cannot expect any help from what will surely be a weak American foreign policy and a gutted American military.
[...]
Once Obama gets into the White House bad actors the world over understand that they will be on the rise. And Mikheil Saakashvili understands this and made his move accordingly.
Obama’s weakness has been the catalyst for this conflict.
Yes, it’s all Obama’s fault for becoming President in 2009 and doing away with the military, thus not being in a position to support Georgia after it provokes Russia in 2010, gets invaded, and becomes an unwilling member of USSR2 (this time it’s personal).  Sadly, Obama’s weakness also leaves us totally vulnerable to the space alien attack of 2011, which results in the human race becoming the protein portion of  Space McDonald’s intergalatic Happy Meals.
So, the Georgian President had no choice but to go back in time and provoke Russia NOW, while President Bush is still in office and feeling women at the Olympics, in order to save humanity.  See, it all makes sense now!

And, sadly, bad actors understand this and will be on the rise, thus doubly dooming humanity, which will be forced to deal with hammy performances of “Fiddler on the Roof” on top of everything else.   We can only hope that Time/Warner sends an android back in time to kill Obama’s mother before she gives birth to him.  Otherwise, the future offers no respite from Russian hegemony, peace,  and the cast of “The Hills.”
