Townhall Tonight

Today's Townhall columns are a mixed bag.  Or maybe they're one of those "mystery bags" some stores sell for a buck or two, containing tacky Halloween items, loose screws, dented canned goods, and other assorted junk.

WorldNetDaily (which also runs Michelle's columns) describes today's screed as "Michelle Malkin blasts terrorist apologists for harangue against U.S. government."  And one of the most prominent terrorist apologists who gets blasted by Michelle is Andrew Sullivan.

Anyway, the column is about how Michelle couldn't care less that chaplain James Lee was accused of treason and locked up in solitary for months, and it now turns out he wasn't guilty of any crime against the United States.  And per Michelle, it's laughable to claim that he was scapegoated because he was ethnic Chinese, when any fool knows that he was scapegoated because he's Muslim.
After the Yee case came to light last fall, I wrote that the military's dangerous deference to radical Islam was a menace to our national security. The outcome of the Yee case does not change my position on this. (And by the way, to those readers who have demanded that I apologize to Captain Yee, I'll send him a condolence card when you apologize for your "Free Mike Hawash" campaign on behalf of the Portland software engineer who pleaded guilty to aiding terrorists and confessed that he and other associates were "prepared to take up arms, and die as martyrs if necessary, to defend the Taliban.")
The logic here is flawless: Michelle maligned someone and is asked to apologize; other people have apparently campaigned on behalf of another Muslim arrested for aiding terrorists; so, Michelle will send the guy she maligned a "condolence card" only if the people who think she's done something wrong will apologize for what some other people did.

In any case, even though Yee was innocent, Michelle claims she was right about the danger posed by Muslim chaplains, who could be downloading porn even as we speak.
Nor does the dismissal of charges against Yee negate the still-pressing need to subject to heightened scrutiny the rest of the armed forces' Muslim chaplains -- more than half of whom were trained by a terror-linked, Saudi-subsidized institute.

Jonah is apparently coming out of the closet.
After all, if I angrily asked, "Are you saying I'm gay?" as often as liberals say, "Are you questioning my patriotism?" a lot of people would think I'm hiding something.

Gary accuses Kerry of being no better than a common blogger!  And we know what THEY are like.
Bloggers are often accused of trolling through headlines for material, but maybe now we can make the same claim of presidential candidates.
And Gary has been going to the James Taranto School of Punditry.
Can someone please explain to Senator Kerry how President Bush’s effort to keep oil prices down actually protects everyone's best interests (except Liberals, of course)?
Okay, Gary, I'll do it:

Senator Kerry, President Bush's conspiracy with the Saudis to keep oil prices artificially high for months, in order to be able to lower prices right before an election and make it look like the economy is going great, actually protects everyone's best interests (except Liberals, of course), because being duped is fun!

Maggie writes about "Bush's testosterone problem."  Yeah, he's just too manly for us weak women, and that's why we don't feel any safer, despite his having killed all those insurgents in Iraq for us.  However, Bush has a sensitive side too, as demonstrated by his talk of consoling the families of dead soldiers at last week's press conference. But since he brought up the "consoling the families" bit in response to questions about why he traded Sammy Sosa, it really didn't make us women feel any more secure.
[Sleazeball Dick] Morris sees President Bush's recent, tough-talking press conference "entirely male-oriented." He may not have noticed the sudden female interjection, but I did: Bush suddenly paused to talk about how meeting with the families of soldiers killed in Iraq and "weeping" with them was one of the toughest parts of his job.

Ben gets inspired by 1943's Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, and joins the Army.

Not really.  He just exults in being one of today's new tough Jews, and then urges America to send other young men to fight the Islamofascist Nazis while he supports them by bravely peddling his book about evil colleges.
Just as the Warsaw Ghetto resistance fighters found themselves surrounded by a sea of enemies, America, Israel and our allies are isolated. We can ignore the fact that one day the modern-day Nazis -- the Islamofascists and their appeasement-minded allies -- will storm our gates. We can ignore the fact that the first shots of this war have already been fired. We can, in the words of John Kerry, "return to the U.N." and "rejoin the community of nations." Or we can recognize that we are in the same situation as the heroes of the ZOB. We can recognize that though the fight is difficult, it is worth fighting.
Hey, you first, Ben.

Walter teaches us that racial profiling isn't racist, it's just an economical way to save time by assuming that all African-Americans are criminals.
We seriously misunderstand the motives of a taxi driver who passes up a black customer if we use racism as the sole explanation for his behavior. It might be racism, but it might just as easily and more probably be a fear of robbery, murder or being taken to a dangerous neighborhood. There are other examples and greater detail of this phenomenon in my recent Cornell Law and Public Policy Journal article “Discrimination: The Law vs. Morality.” Needless to say, the law-abiding black person who's refused a taxi ride or pizza delivery or pulled over by the police is justifiably annoyed and offended. The rightful recipients of his anger should be those blacks who have made black synonymous with high crime and not the taxi driver or pizza deliverer who might fear for his life or the policeman trying to do his job.

So, Townhall: a bag for just a dollar.
