Sex! Sex! Sex!

1.  Yes, that's our theme for today.  It was suggested by Brad over at Sadly, No! who offers a Townhall Sex Review (he says he did so we didn't have to -- but it could just be that he likes Townhall sex).

2.  Pastor Swank is also on the sex bandwagon, and I have chosen as our Swank o' the Day his hot column BUSH SIGNS LAW UPPING MORALITY: DOWN WITH SMUT IN DVDs.
The United States President George W. Bush promised the moral base in America that he would do all he could in this second term to up morality quotients from sea to sea.
Yes, "Up Morality Quotients" was the President's slogan for his second term -- and that's why he signed a bill allowing movies to be filtered for smut by outside parties.
Today he signed into law a bill that legally protects filtering companies and aids mothers and fathers concerned about DVD smut. Parents henceforth will be able to "automatically skip or mute sections of commercial movie DVDs," AP reports.
Americans who have an ethical sensibility are anxious about the next generation sliding out of control due to violence, obscenity and lust parlays in lyrics, movies and other so-called entertainment. Therefore, they have appealed to their lawmakers and the executive branch to up the morality milieu. Hopefully, the judicial system will provide its support as well, but one can never tell regarding that branch in particular.
I am worried sick that the next generation will slide out of control due to lust parlays, and so I too say "Up the morality milieu, lawmakers!"
During the Clinton Oval Office antics play-out, it was impossible to hope that the White House would give encouragement to morally based Americans. Instead, the Hollywood glitz regime held sway with the then affable President. As the world knows, he acted out his own immoral scenes time and again within the confines of the executive suite as well as conveniently elsewhere.
Oh, if only Bush would sign a law that would allow people to mentally skip or mute those immoral scenes from the Oval Office instead of playing them time and time again within the confines of their own minds -- because if Bush came up with such a bill, then maybe the Pastor would be freed of having to mention those sinful, depraved, titillating acts at least once a week.
Now that we have a President who professes to being biblically grounded ethically, believers in particular hold that they have a chance to return the United States to a sensible, healthy environment, especially for the upcoming generations. Flick entertainment is as good a place to begin as any.
Yeah, thank heavens for a President who professes to being biblically grounded ethically!  I'm sure upcoming generations will thank him for their healthy environment -- not including the air, water, and land, of course.

3.  And speaking of sex, Janice Shaw Crouse of the Concerned Women for America is really concerned because many modern women make lots of money and get lots of sex, just like men -- which is against nature.
Postmodern thinking offered women the opportunity to “have it all.”  Women flocked into the marketplace where they are having unprecedented success. Entry level MBA women now make higher salaries than their male counterparts.  Sadly, though, sexual liberation came as part of the post-modern package and gals began rivaling the guys in bed-hopping, too.
Now we are learning the price those women are paying.  Turns out sexual “freedom” wasn’t exactly free.
Yes, we are learning that Jeff "Bulldog" Gannon charged $1200 for a weekend -- and extrapolating from that, we can see that those horny women are paying dearly for their sex!
This week, the Beverly LaHaye Institute (the think tank for Concerned Women for America) released its latest Data Digest which chronicles a disturbing trend for women: since 1976, the rate of childlessness has gone up between 50 and 90 percent among women in every age bracket, and the rate of singleness among women over age 30 has tripled.
Nobody mentioned in the mid-70s that “having it all” would not include marriage and children.
And that's the hidden downside of "liberation" in the new millennium: not every woman will be required to have a husband and children, like nature intended!
Many young women, now that it is too late, are lamenting the cost of careerism and promiscuity as they discover that marriage and children are not likely in their future.
Women like poor, sad Ann Coulter!
Millions of women are finding, through bitter experience, that while the wonders of modern communication technology can distract much of the time, at the end of the day –– when the iPod and cellphone sit in their chargers, when the television’s relentless barrage is finally silent –– there is no hand to hold and no baby to cuddle.
Sure, they try to distract themselves with some of the other expensive gadgets they have purchased with their six-figure MBA salaries, and then they hop back into bed for more of that mind-bending sex, but what they really want is this kind of life.
Such loneliness is the sad ending to the promise of “having it all.”
And the women brought it all on themselves by believing that they could be educated and have careers just like men.  The fools!  The slutty, well-paid fools!
Drinking from the springs of a false ideology can steal priceless, irreplaceable elements of life for years before its tragic consequences are evident and its true nature revealed for all to see.  For instance, the millions of deaths from Hitler’s Nazi horror or in Stalin’s Gulags, or the bloody massacres of today’s suicidal terrorists, reveal all too clearly the true character and the threat of counterfeit creeds.  But for the victims, the exposé comes too late.
Women's liberation: it's like Nazism and terrorism combined!  So, ladies, I hope you now see the evil of having a good job, and in rivaling the men in bed-hopping.

4.  And speaking of the dangers of being a slut, there's this story:
Pro golfer Jackie Gallagher-Smith of Jupiter is being sued by a former caddie who claims he became an "unknowing sperm donor" when she seduced him with the intention of getting pregnant.
[...]
According to Robinson, he and Gallagher-Smith met in January 2004 when Robinson was working as a caddie at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Jupiter. During his second week of employment, Robinson alleges, Gallagher-Smith began seducing him.
"Mr. Robinson, I'm trying to seduce you," she must have said at least once during the course of their relationship.

Anyway, she had a baby last month, which Robinson claims is probably his, but which the lady golfer is pretending is her husband's, and so Robinson wants $250,000 for "intentional infliction of emotional distress and fraud."
"By the end of October, I realized I have no chance of being a part of this baby's life if I don't say something," he said Thursday from his home in California. "She got upset and angry. We go back to Florida, and she says she told [her husband] everything and that he forgives us both. They start reciting Bible passages to me, like about not judging and not passing judgment."

Gallagher-Smith is a member of Life Athletes, "professional and Olympic athletes who are committed to living lives of virtue, abstinence and respect for life," according to its Web site.
Of course she is.

But since she is married, has had a child, and hasn't done any professional golfing this year, Ms. Crouse and the Concerned Women shouldn't be that concerned about her.  I mean, she really IS just having it all!

5.  Oh, and speaking sex and children, and how gays shouldn't have either, Cathie Adams, president of the Texas Eagle Forum advocacy group, was on CNN last week to debate the proposed Texas law that would prevent same-sex couples from being foster parents.  And it seems that she used info from our old friend Paul "Gerbil Boy" Cameron during the debate.

The Wall Street Journal has the whole story, strangely enough:
The proposed ban attracted national media attention, and several "pro-family" groups seeking to drum up support for the bill have been circulating some troubling stats about gay parents. Among the most striking, stated during a CNN program: children in foster homes with same-sex parents are 11 times as likely to be sexually abused as those with heterosexual parents.
To get on CNN, that number snaked through a twisting path, from a little-noticed Illinois study published by an antigay scientist/activist in a psychological journal, to several conservative Web sites, to, finally, the attention of a Texas activist who presented her misinterpretation of the study on national television, essentially unchallenged. It's a textbook example of how flawed numbers can gain national attention if advocates work hard enough -- especially when there aren't widely-known conflicting estimates.
The WSJ explains the faulty data, "leaps in logic," and fallacies that led Ms. Adams to her claim.  Read the whole thing.  And then think twice (at least) whenever you hear anyone spout numbers on Kyra Phillips's CNN program.

6.  And to wrap things up, Macleans has a piece about the evolutionary reasons for female orgasm:
Female orgasm, it's been argued, enhances the emotional connection between partners, making women want to cook and care for their men. Another theory holds that it motivates women to have lots of intercourse with the same man, thereby improving the chances of fertilization; a counter explanation suggests it motivates them to have lots of sex with different suitors, thereby increasing the number of guys who, not knowing if the offspring is theirs or not, won't hurt or kill the babies. Alternatively, some researchers suggest orgasms indicate which fellows will be good caregivers (if he's evolved enough to bring you to the heights of passion, surely he'll look out for the kids, too).
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's that last one.  But there are several other theories, including "female orgasm is nothing more nor less than a by-product of the early stages of a human embryo's development," like male nipples.  I'm just waiting for the Answers in Genesis male nipple people to take a crack at it.
