The Ol' Blame the Victim Ploy And this is the time in our program when we report on how the investigation regarding the disclosure of Valerie Plame's CIA affiliation is going. Well, no news is good news, right? But we can bring this article (The Plame Affair) by FrontPage Magazine's Ben Johnson to your attention. While it is one of the stupidest we've read yet, we do thank him for writing it, and for thereby reminding the public of the matter (assuming FrontPage is indeed read by any members of the public). We will refrain from rebutting each of Mr. Johnson's points (even though we very easily could, because he is woefully uninformed on this topic and repeats many of the stupider points of those conservative writers who have previously pundited about the case), and will instead just share with you his unique contribution to the stupidity: the idea that Valerie is the one who should be investigated and prosecuted, because she used to go on DATES!
Well, since she is still a CIA employee in good standing, I imagine you'd find that she hasn't disclosed her CIA affiliation to every man she ever went out with, since this kind of thing is covered in the routine polygraphs and background investigations which CIA employees must undergo every few years. And I think you'd also find that since Joseph Wilson was an ambassador, and therefore had a security clearance and knew the identity of many an undercover CIA employee, Valerie probably felt it was permissible to confide her true employement status to him before they actually tied the knot. And I bet you'd find that she NEVER dated anybody who would consider the Ice Capades an acceptable evening's entertainment. Anyway, while we don't know that "the White House leaks have endangered anyone yet," the fact that they COULD endanger someone is deplorable, and a very good reason for not letting this matter drop until somebody is behind bars. So, we want to thank Ben for playing, and for reminding people that are a couple of Senior Administration Officials out there who have comitted a crime, and who should go to jail for it. We also want to thank him showing us that things must still look pretty bad to the Right too, judging by the pathetic methods they employ in an effort to try to dimish the case against those Officials. 3:54:12 AM |
Ann Coulter, Nude Action Role Model! In other news, Michelle Malkin complains that Jessica Simpson, is like, stupid, and so is a poor role model for girls (Antidotes for Jessica Simpson Syndrome):
Like "Syndicated radio talk show host and best-selling author Laura Ingraham" and "syndicated columnist and best-selling author Ann Coulter -- who now has a sharp-talking action figure modeled after her." Um, "beauty and brains." Right. I think Michelle pulled a Jessica here. And you know, if I had to choose, I'd rather have my imaginary daughter be an amiable airhead like Jessica than be EVIL, like the "smart" examples Michelle provides. But I bet Michelle was bought off, and wrote this article for a free Ann Coulter action figure. 2:52:07 AM |
