Everybody Loves a Town(hall), So Why Don't You?
Today featuring sex, violence, and ingratitude.
If your friends and family members are sinners, you should stone them to death, so as "to preserve traditional values."
Last Sunday, I picked up a copy of Boston Magazine while sitting in the green room at the Fox News studios in Watertown, Mass. Leafing through the publication, I came across an article titled "Confessions of an Ivy League Callgirl," written by Jeannette Angell, a university lecturer with a master's degree from Yale. The fact that she was a Yalie caught my eye -- as a Harvard Law student, I've already adopted our communal animosities -- and so I read the piece.
Yeah, it was the fact that the sex worker was from the rival school that caused Ben to read this article. Otherwise, he would have no interest in her confessions -- or in any other steamy, erotic stories of illicit passion that might drop into his lap (so to speak). See, Ben is a Harvard Law student who often sits in the Fox News green room, and so his continuing interest in internet porn, naughty movies, collegiate hookers, etc., is only because Yalies might be involved in such things.
Anyway, the Yalie call girl called on her readers not to be so quick to judge hookers. Michael Moore and Arlen Specter said something similar about homosexuals. This goes against Ben's Traditional Values.
So can we condemn Jeannette Angell as a whore? Can we condemn homosexuality or abortion as sinful? Of course we can.
Well, Ben can. And if anybody ever instructs the Harvard Law crowd that he without sin can cast the first stone at Jeannette, Ben has a whole wheelbarrow full of rocks at the ready.
The rest of the world isn't properly grateful to the United States -- and they will burn in hell for it.
Of all the ugly human traits, ingratitude -- the refusal to acknowledge the good that has been done for us -- is probably the ugliest. [...]
The world's nations should be thanking God or whatever they believe in for America. Instead, most of them celebrate the United Nations, which actually abets evil and increases human suffering. To highlight this phenomenon, I propose giving an annual Ingrate of the Year Award to some particularly ungrateful group, country, organization or individual.
Sounds like a great idea. And if the bastards aren't grateful for the award, then I say we nuke 'em!
And who gets the honor this year?
This year, those South Koreans must share the Ingrate Award with the Iraqi Olympic soccer team.
It seems that the Iraqi soccer team (who should be thanking George Bush for featuring them in one of his campaign ads) resent that he is claiming credit for their victories. What a bunch of jerks!
Oh, and I suggest we give an Ingrate Award to all of those Abu Ghraib prisoners who aren't grateful enough that they were only subjected to "detainee abuse."
Oh, and I suggest we give an Ingrate Award to all of those Abu Ghraib prisoners who aren't grateful enough that they were only subjected to "detainee abuse."
One great lesson of American history is that one does good in this world because it is right to do good, not because the recipients will be grateful.
Then why are we giving out Ingrate Awards, Dennis?
We Americans must therefore never judge the rightness of our actions on how much gratitude or censure we receive.
So, the fact that a large part of the Iraqi population (and the Arab world) is really ticked off at us for invading their country doesn't mean that it was the wrong thing to do. Neither does the fact that it hasn't made us any safer. No, the only way to determine its rightness is by asking George Bush what God says about it. And if he tells us that God said it was right, then it was right. And if you aren't grateful for George's war, then you can join the foreigners in hell.

From across the ocean Marvin wrote a column incorporating Rudy Giuliani's convention speech, the root cause of terrorism, the sin of abortion, and Marve's efforts to invade Turkey, kill its leaders, and convert the Turks to Christianity.
Giuliani essentially noted that Muslim extremists hate America not for what we do but for what we are, a land of freedom. We have freedom of speech and freedom of religion, and both of those threaten Islam. (We also have freedom of abortion that destroys a greater freedom, the freedom to live, but that's a story that Giuliani, sadly, does not tell.)
So, per Marve, Rudy said that terrorists attack America because we have freedom of speech -- but sadly, Rudy didn't mention abortion. And while it seems that terrorists aren't attacking us because of Roe Vs. Wade, they should.
The NY Times isn't properly grateful for all of the Republicans in its city.
Obviously the Times won't find any extremists in street demonstrations as long as the hate object is Bush. Robert McFadden's front-page story, "March Raucous but Largely Peaceful," began lyrically: "A roaring two-mile river of demonstrators surged through the canyons of Manhattan yesterday in the city's largest political protest in decades, a raucous but peaceful spectacle that pilloried George W. Bush and demanded regime change in Washington." What a nice subtle dig, comparing Bush to Saddam Hussein.
Hey, if the shoe fits!
But I do like the lyricism of those roaring demonstrators and their raucous pillorying. It reminds me of Keats' lovely "Ode to a Bush Hater."
McFadden relayed the wildest crowd estimates (half a million) from the organizers rather than the official number from the police (200,000) and stated in all seriousness that "The faces appeared to be a cross-section of the American experience." The diversity happy talk crowded out any mention of the fact that the protest's leader, a woman named Leslie Cagan of United for Peace and Justice, thinks Fidel Castro is a better political role model than George W. Bush.
Is Brent claiming that this shows her lack of diversity, since that's what everybody thinks?
All those vets who say that Kerry served honorably are big liars. In fact, all Vietnam vets except the SwiftVets are probably commie traitors.
The way Kerry and Rassman tell it, you would think Kerry saved Rassman's life by staging a daring, high-speed commando raid on a prisoner of war camp. I was pulled from churning surfs a dozen times before I was 10 years old, each time exclaiming, "YOU SAVED MY LIFE!" but I'm not seeking out the people who fished me out of the water and demanding that they run for president.
Poor Ann. Her parents kept throwing her in ocean, and the life guard kept pulling her out. And even she didn't appreciate his efforts.
(Oh, and I think "Churning Surfs" would be a great name for a blog.)
Having exposed all the feminist/PC/liberal rot on his own campus, Dr. Mike explores the Wesleyan University website, and uncovers all kinds of sin and depravity. If John Wesley were alive today, he'd be spinning in his grave!
For example, one Wesleyan speaker (also an alumna) gave a talk at Wesleyan entitled “My life as a feminist pornographer.”[...]In addition to the signature sex toys, Wesleyan’s proud alumna started conducting sodomy workshops after graduation. There, she has even taught septuagenarians how to have anal sex. People of all ages can depend (pun intended) on her expert anal-ysis (pun obviously intended).
Mike is an ass (pun intended).
We can thank blogs for forcing the media clique to investigate the SwiftVet's claims.
Were it not for the real alternative media, Kerry's game plan probably would have worked. Were it not for the tenacious attention of blogs like Instapundit and the Belmont Club, and for the mavericks of the conservative media, this story might never have made it onto the radar.
Yes, Kerry would have got away with it too, if it weren't for that meddling Glenn and his "hmm," "indeed," and "interesting."
What remains to be seen is they've learned their lesson, or if I'll be writing media bias columns for years to come.
Do it, Jonah, and Brent Bozell's goons will ensure that you sleep with the fishes. There can be only one (media bias twit)!
Pay no attention to the billionaire behind the curtain!
The truly rich don't deserve all the political hype we hear; they're only a tiny percentage of our population and not that important.[...]The 99 percent plus of the rest of us can safely ignore the truly rich. Our attention is better focused on issues far more important to us instead of allowing politicians to divert our attention by getting us worked up over whether the rich are paying their fair share and so-called tax cuts for the rich. The reason we can ignore the rich is because they have little or no power over our lives.
Even if Gates, Buffett, Allen and the 272 other billionaires pooled their assets, what could they make you and me do? Could they force you to bus your kid to a school across town?
Well, they could buy the local school and tear it down, forcing me to send my kid across town.
Could they force you to abandon use of your property so as to provide an abode for some endangered species?
They could have me killed, and then buy my property from my cowed heirs.
Could they force you to wear a seat belt when you drive?
They could certainly BRIBE me to do it.
All by themselves, billionaires and millionaires have little power over us compared to the awesome power that politicians and midlevel government bureaucrats have over us. They can force us to do many things that we otherwise wouldn't do.
Yes, the clerk at the DVM holds way more power than all of your Bill Gates and Richard Scaife Mellons put together.
They can convince politicians to enact laws and regulations and create special privileges that benefit them and their allies at the expense of the rest of us. Donald Trump got politicians to use laws of eminent domain to throw Vera Coking, an elderly widow, out of her Atlantic City, N.J., home to make room for expansion of his casino. Had it not been for the Washington, D.C.-based Institute for Justice, Atlantic City officials would have succeeded. We might be tempted to blame the rich. I say no.
Of course you do, William. They're paying you to say that.
Gary dislikes the show of armed force in NYC. He says that the protesters seem to be non-violent so far, and thinks all the fire power just makes it more likely that there will be some kind of incident before the convention is over. And then, being Gary, he gets really goofy.
It will be a mistake to end this convention in NYC leaving the impression that this armed camp is somehow normal. The ladies may be put at ease by the sight of all this authority, but I happen to like having the freedom to move around the streets unmolested.
Yes, the women-folk need a squad of burly cops with riot gear on every corner in order to feel safe, Gary. They are fearful, timerous creatures who need shows of brute force in order to feel comfortable at the Republican convention, what with all of the sex scandals the party is known for.
The authorities’ attitude is suspiciously politically correct and reminiscent of the nonsense we have seen at our nation’s airports. Instead of offending anybody who resembles an actual violent protestor or terrorist, we are all being treated like terrorists.
Yup, instead of wasting time applying the rules to everybody, including clean-cut white folks, the authorities should just shoot everybody who resembles a protestor or terrorist.
It’s getting old if you ask me. Let’s start pestering the protestors and terrorist look-alikes for a change. Let’s leave peaceful, elderly conventioneers alone. If I see one more 60-year old woman in a dress being wand-raped, I think I’m going to throw up.
They are sodomizing 60-year-old women with wands in NYC this week? And Gary is just standing by watching? Geez, instead of worrying about his sensitive stomach, you'd think that a former FBI hero like Gary would do something about these violent crimes!
The attitude seems to be that everybody is a suspect, including little old ladies and men who represent no threat whatsoever.
Because 60-year-old men and women are weak, powerless, and ineffectual, and could never pose a threat to anyone.
It’s an explosive situation in NYC, and, in large part, we have the Leftist demonstrators to thank for this.
The authorities should just shoot all leftists, in order to diffuse the threat
Michelle Malkin
Uh oh. Over at her blog, Michelle announces:
For some reason my latest column isn't at townhall.com this morning.
And it's still not there. You think that maybe the critical thrashing her book has received and her disastrous appearance on "Hardball" have convinced Townhall that Michelle is a loser, and they no longer want to be associated with her?
In any case, we have to go to WorldNetDaily (the site for losers, by losers) to read this week's column. It's about how the mainstream media picks on Bush-Cheney for attempting to use religious groups for campaigning, but when Clinton gives a speech in a church, do they denounce that on page one of the NY Times? Noooo!
This proves that there is a "MEDIA BIAS AGAINST CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS."
Clinton's strident Sunday morning visit to the Riverside Church wasn't just one spontaneous event, but part of a coordinated nationwide campaign called "Mobilization 2004." The church's pastor, Rev. James Forbes, has aligned with crockumentary filmmaker Michael Moore, socialist anti-war agitators Code Pink, and liberal Protestant churches bent on booting President Bush out of office. Forbes, who spoke at the Democratic National Convention, has his hands in protest events all week during the Republican National Convention, pushing everything from increased federal spending on hunger and homelessness to single-payer health insurance.
He is working to try to get more government help for the hungry, homeless, and uninsured? The bastard!
Nevertheless, there have been no in-depth, front-page stories on how Kerry allies are "tilling fertile soil" among left-wing Protestants for votes.
Maybe because they aren't, sad to say?
No editorials snidely titled "Onward Democrat Soldiers." And no conspiratorial flow-charts suggesting coordination between Rev. Forbes, the Clintons (Hillary attended the service after attacking Bush on the Sunday morning talk-show circuit) and the Kerry campaign.
Just because the conspiracy between the Bush campaign and the evangelical groups is real and documented, and the one between the Clintons, Forbes, and Kerry apparently just a product of Michelle's imagination, if there is no in-depth, front page story on it, it just proves Michelle's thesis about the media being biased against conservative Christians. QED.
Well, that's this week's Townhall Review. I hope we've all learned a valuable lesson from it: that if you see Ann Coulter drowning in the churning surfs, don't bother to rescue her, because she's one of those damned ingrates that Dennis Prager wrote about.
